VJ Loop Pack - Seder-Masochism by Nina Paley

These loops were created from the film Seder-Masochism by Nina Paley. Nina is an independent animator and film producer who is an outspoken advocate against copyright law. She has released this film along with several others into the public domain with a CC0 license. So likewise, I am releasing these edited loops with the same license. Use them however you wish, for anything.

The release of her films into the public domain is just the latest effort Paley has undertaken to advocate for Free Culture. In 2008, while navigating copyright for Sita Sings the Blues, she joined the nonprofit QuestionCopyright.org as artist-in-residence, where she later created a series of shorts about Free Culture called Minute Memes. She has spoken extensively about copy restrictions and art, including her 2015 TEDx talk “Copyright is Brain Damage”.

I have edited most of these clips to loop seamlessly. The mp4 files do not have any additional effects applied, but I did key/mask the DXV loops for easy mixing in Resolume (many of the loops have alpha channel.)  The resolution (720p) and frame rate (24 fps) are unchanged from the original film. Feel free to scale/re-edit these however you wish - this is partly why I included the mp4s.
